WETHERBY  WHARFEDALE  41 CLUB

 

 

 

THE RULES

 

As adopted at The Inaugural General Meeting on 27th March, 1990

 

 

1. Name

 

The Club shall be known as the "Wetherby Wharfedale 41 Club".

 

2. Membership

 

2.1 Membership shall be confined to members or ex-members of Round Table who have attained the age of forty.

 

2.2 Members shall be elected into the Club by invitation only under the following conditions:-

 

a) The prospective member shall attend three meetings out of four possible meetings. Attendance as an Honorary Member shall count for this purpose.

 

b) The prospective member shall be proposed and seconded by two Members by application to the Honorary Secretary who shall then advise all Members, in writing, of the proposal. Members shall have fourteen days in which to object to the application by contacting any of the Officers of the Club who shall then discuss the application and objections at a Council Meeting at which the objectors shall be present. The application for membership shall then be placed before the Members at the next meeting and a vote shall be taken. The prospective member can only become a Member if over seventy-five per cent of those attending the meeting shall vote in favour. The prospective member shall then be inducted as a Member of the Club at the earliest opportunity.

 

c) An application for membership shall fail without the need for a vote if the Membership of the Club at that time does not comprise at least sixty per cent of ex-members of Wetherby Wharfedale Round Table (excluding Honorary Members).

 

d) Transferees from other Clubs within the Association of Ex-Tablers' Clubs will be subjected to these Rules.

 

2.3 Honorary Membership, which shall be subject to election at the Annual General Meeting, may be awarded at the Club's discretion to the then current Chairman of Wetherby Wharfedale Round Table and to any Member of Wetherby Wharfedale Round Table who is in his last year under the Round Table age rule. Honorary Membership shall be for one financial year only, and Honorary Members shall not hold office or have a vote and shall not be asked to, pay subscriptions.

 

2.4 Membership shall cease if:-

 

a) The Member fails to pay his Annual Subscription before the end of December in the financial year or

 

b) The Member fails to attend fifty per cent of the meetings in the financial year or

 

c) The Member dies.

 

In the event of a) and b) the matter shall be discussed at a meeting and voted upon, and the decision of the meeting shall be communicated to the Member by the Honorary Chairman. The Members attending the meeting may decide to permit the membership to continue, subject to conditions or not, or terminate the membership.

 


3. Objects

 

The Formal Objectives of the Club shall be:-

 

3.1 To continue the friendships formed in Round Table.

 

3.2 To maintain links with Wetherby Wharfedale Round Table.

 

3.3 To maintain links with other Clubs within the Association of Ex-Tablers’ Clubs.

 

3.4 To assist Wetherby Wharfedale Round Table with its activities when asked.

 

Informal Aims and Objects are to be agreed at each Annual General Meeting for the year, and these are to be read at every meeting.

 

4. Officers and Council

 

4.1 The Officers shall consist of the Honorary Chairman, Honorary Vice-Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer.

 

4.2 The Council shall consist of the Officers of the Club.

 

4.3 The day to day management of the Club shall be vested in the Council.

 

4.4 The Officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting and take office at the conclusion of that meeting until the next Annual General Meeting.

 

5. Club Year

 

The Club year and financial year shall run from 1st April to 31st March.

 

6. Annual Subscription and Accounts

 

6.1 The Annual Subscription shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting and become payable before the succeeding 30th June.

 

6.2 The Honorary Treasurer shall provide accounts to the Annual General Meeting.

 

6.3 An Honorary Auditor shall be appointed at the meeting before the Annual General Meeting and shall not be a member of the Council.

 

 

7. Meetings

 

7.1 The ordinary meetings shall usually be on the fourth Tuesday in every month.

 

7.2 The Annual General Meeting shall usually be on the fourth Tuesday in April with the objective of being held after the Annual General Meeting of Wetherby Wharfedale Round Table.

 

7.3 Special Meetings can be convened by any Member by contacting the Honorary Chairman or Honorary Secretary, either of whom shall then inform every Member in writing, giving at least fourteen days notice.

7.4 All meetings shall be conducted in the manner associated with normal business proceedings with decisions made by the majority vote of those attending, except where otherwise provided in these rules.

 

8. Rules

 

8.1 No alteration, addition or deletion to these Rules shall be made, except at a Special Meeting convened for that purpose, or at the Annual General Meeting. Fourteen days notice of proposals for alterations, additions and deletions shall be given by the Honorary Secretary in writing to all Members. To be effective, such alterations, additions and deletions shall require the support of at least seventy per cent of the Members voting at the meeting.

 

8.2 The Council shall be empowered to interpret these Rules and to make decisions on matters not covered by these Rules, subject to any such interpretation and decision being-confirmed at the next succeeding Special or Annual General Meeting.
